How to Choose the Right WiFi Router?

The home WiFi router can be connected to the Internet, enabling wired and wireless terminals to share broadband Internet access. The performance of the home WiFi router determines the Internet experience of the entire LAN. Different application scenarios have different requirements. This article introduces some factors that should be considered for choosing a home WiFi router.

1. Home broadband of the home WiFi router

Routers for home are divided into two categories according to the wired port rate:

① 100M routers, gigabit routers. If the home broadband line is less than 100M, choose a 100M port router to meet the demand;

② If the home broadband line is ≥100M, it is recommended to choose a gigabit port router to avoid affecting the Internet experience.

Most home WiFi router models will indicate the gigabit version.

2. Features of home WiFi routers

Different house environments have different requirements for routers for home. For example, a small two-bedroom and one living room only needs one home WiFi router to achieve the basic coverage. Larger houses such as duplexes or villas require the use of packaged products or many wireless products which are networked to achieve comprehensive coverage.

3. The wireless frequency band of the home WiFi router

Home WiFi routers are divided into three categories according to frequency bands: Single-frequency WiFi routers, dual-frequency WiFi routers, and three-frequency WiFi routers. Among them, dual-frequency WiFi routers are the current mainstream products.

It is recommended to choose dual- and three-frequency WiFi routers, which have less wireless interference, fast speed, and better wireless experience.

4. The wireless rate of the home WiFi router

The theoretical wireless rate is related to the number of antennas and modulation technology. Generally speaking, the more antennas, the higher the wireless transmission rate.

Using wireless technology, multiple wireless terminals can transmit data at the same time, and the wireless speed can achieve a qualitative leap.

5. Amount of devices of the home WiFi router

Different home WiFi router may sustain different amounts of devices. You can choose a suitable router according to the number of terminals that need to access the network. Generally, the higher the wireless specification, the greater the amount of devices that the router can sustain. Dual-frequency WiFi routers can sustain much more devices than single-frequency WiFi routers can.

6. Other application functions of home WiFi router

Home WiFi routers are rich in features, and you can choose the right router according to your needs.

For example, "Guest network" function can isolate the host network and guest network to ensure the safety of the internal network; "Wireless access control" function can fundamentally solve the problem of Wi-Fi squatter, only allowing your own devices to connect to the home WiFi router; "Automatic cleaning" function can ensure that cached data will be automatically cleared to make the home WiFi router run more stable; The "signal adjustment" function can adjust the wireless transmission power, and so on.
